Is getting food poisoning dangerous when you have hashimotos? And how do you reverse food poisoning as it just begins to start? Any home remedies? And should I go into the emegency room if I suspect food poisoning?

Getting food poisoning with hashimotos
Briebailey,
Food poisoning can be dangerous for anyone. If it is severe you need to go to the ER. Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated and flush the bug and take electrolytes to replace salts and minerals if you have diarrhoea.
Not sure if it was a virus / food poisoning, but I was ill with something like that last year immediately after a Hospital check-up where they had a Norovirus scare!!!
Definitely replacing electrolytes and vitamin C is a good start - all well diluted. I recommend Dr Myhill mineral mix + ascorbic acid (in powdered form) + powdered glucose from the chemist after a day. Also, a little diluted glutamine powder takes the edge off a very worn out stomach lining and oesophagus. Following on from that start on blandish solids, low in protein (baby food!) and go easy on dairy - start with no-lactose /low lactose. I stopped drinking ordinary milk for about a month.. N.B. Lactase enzyme production is severely compromised by a stomach bug.
