Sorry for overloaded posts :)

I'm struggling with itchy skin at the moment so taking piriton which seems to be a daily thing at the moment. Anyone else get itchy skin for what seems like no reason? I broke out in a rash a couple of months ago like hives it was awful!

Miss_graves-uk,

Itching can be a side effect of taking Carbimazole. If Piriton isn't controlling the itching it may be worth asking to trial Propylthiouracil (PTU) instead of Carbimazole.

which might help. I'm always itching; it's another thyroidie thing :( Aveeno helps me a little. Try to avoid steroid creams as they thin the skin x

I blamed Levothyroxine for my continual itchy arms for 2 years until some bright doctor suggested sun damage as I am a keen gardener, it was so obvious. As the rash was only on the front of my arms from where my garden gloves ended to the crook of my elbow, as I always wore 3/4 length sleeves in the garden in the summer. Never hardly bothered with suntan cream on that area. He prescribed Solaraze cream and plenty of moisturizer and within 2 days the itchy rash started to disappear as if by magic, and after using as prescribed it has cleared up altogether. Thought it might be helpful to mention just incase someone has the same set of circumstances. I am so grateful to that doctor as previous to that I was taking antihistamines in order to get some sleep and my arms were a mess from scratching.

I had itchy skin with sores/rashes my entire life until I stopped eating Wheat which it turns out I am allergic to. I still get a little itchy but nowhere near as badly as before. Have you tried taking out the main culprits and seeing if you feel better? Dairy, Wheat and Soy. Might also be the Thyroid meds but taking out these foods for a few weeks and the slowly introducing them you will be able to rule out if its food or the meds.

My itchy skin is driving me nuts!!!... It normally starts to itch when my levels are too high..my arms and throat mainly. Noone has said high levels cause this but it seems to be my warning signs. My GP says it is allergic urticaria...no rash seen, just looks like fine goosebumps. I am using a steroid cream and derma cool at the moment to give some relief. My levels were 25.4 a month ago so they reduced my Levothyroxine by 25mcg and to have blood checked again in 12 weeks.. I am seeing my GP again as Im getting desperate now
