Clutter Inana Sorry but had to make new post to just show you both what I was given as a copy of my blood test result my GP gave me.

Nooooo, that was me asking him if he could write them down for me but he didn't write them as I requested. If I wanted printout it would of cost me £10, doctor hasn't time to see to you then write down All lab ranges as well , so came away with that. I give up asking 😡

Typical illegible doctor's scrawl! Dunno why GP didn't just hit the print button to printout your results.

I can't read the zinc range.

TSH 0.29 is low-normal and indicates your dose is adequate. FT4 is low because you are taking T3 and high T4 isn't required for conversion. You really need FT3 tested too but will probably have to order a private thyroid test as primary care rarely tests it. You can order a private test from thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... I'm pretty sure HbA1c 38 is negative for diabetes.

B12 316 is low in range. I think you're supplementing methylcobalamin.

Clutter I started to supplement this week, just trying to get to grips with all these different vitamins, my zinc is: 13.1, if am right his ranges are 11.2 - 20.

I will need my FT3 tested, I only started T3 in Feb this year and I don't see my endocrinologist until June.

Those tests I posted were done last year prob around may/June. I will look at link you have posted and see what it will cost me.

Zinc is within range. I'm not aware there is an 'optimal' area in range for zinc.

Clutter The results before them ones indicated that I was out of range but don't have test results, so I started taking zinc supplements and when I had the tests done again, my zinc had raised to 13.1 and was back in range.

I tell you what, it's a bloody minefield this thyroid mlarky, am not the most intellectual of intellucalists (if that's a word) but jee wiz it just shows you the after care for thyroid disease in this country is abissmal.

There should be leaflets in GP Surgeries for thyroid patients explaining for other things they should be checking for i.e. Vitamins as they play a major role on how people who suffer with thyroid disease and not a lot of people know this, especially the elderly. Plus GP's should also know that people with thyroid disease are more susceptible for poor absorption of some vitamins which can make some very poorly indeed.

Vitamin and mineral levels play a major part in general health not just thyroid health and should be optimised in anyone who is unwell or old.

Clutter, it's a pity doctors don't make it routine to test vitamins when patients are displaying symptoms.

When I first went to docs because I was generally feeling unwell, exhausted, drained, sweating, he just tested my tsh which came bk ok, did not once mention testing for vitamin deficiency, it was me who asked for certain vits to be tested and that was because of this site, I just really feel it for the people who have no clue about these things and are left to become so poorly that their quality of life becomes so debilitating.

Just think it's so wrong that people are basically fobbed off.

I agree. My ferritin, vitD, B12 and folate were tested at my request by a trainee GP after my endo refused because "your FBC is fine so they'll be fine". VitD was severely deficient, folate deficient, B12 low and ferritin high. Correcting the deficiencies and improving B12 resolved a lot of symptoms.

It's just as well your on top of the game 👏🏻👏🏻 imagine if you weren't, your symptoms could of made you seriously unwell.

I only trust doctors to diagnose me with a cold, anything after that is scary.
