Hello, Im not yet diagnosed but have had symptoms consistent with being Hypothyroid for about 10 years and they are steadily getting worse. I am in the process of trying to get a trial of Thyroxine ( as per NICE guidelines for Sub clinical Hypothyroidism). My TSH has been steadily rising for the last 5 years and in November 2015 was 5.36 ( 0.35-5.5) my T4 was last tested in Nov 2014 and it was 14.5 (11-23) with TPo level 679 (0-60) . NB: I first tested ( through Blue Horizon) positive for antibodies in March 2014.
Tests done last week however have confused me and show :
TSH as 3.02 ( 0.35-5.50)
Serum free T4 as 11.6. ( 11-23)
Serum free T3 as 4.9 ( 3.50-6.50)
TPo 554 ( 0-60)
The GP has referred me to an Endocrinologist ( haven't seen the GP or spoken to her since getting the blood results but I had asked for a referral when she said she couldn't start a trial without referral to the Endocrine team) the receptionist copied my blood results and told me a referral had been made.
Before I speak to the GP/Endo I wondered if you had any advice - I'm puzzled that my T4 is so low in the range ( which might explain why I am feeling even more fatigued on exertion than normal) but that my TSH has dropped since November. I did have blood taken at exactly same time in Nov and Feb, first thing and after fasting overnight.
Thank you.
