My Specialist called and said my TSH level was .22 and too continue taking my 5 mg Methimazole once a day. Should I be concerned that she is only recently checking my Tsh level instead of the Free 4? She never has checked Free 3. I have been feeling wonderful but just concerned about her just giving me readings on TSH. Thanks so much for comment.

You say you feel wonderful, so therefore I would concentrate only on that. TSH is all that's needed if we are stable. In fact, you really don't need any blood test if you now feel well. If you get symptomatic then new tests are required.

I do feel great, its just I guess the tone of my Specialist voice when she said its still high, and to continue to take the 5 mg Methimazole once a day. Then I start to get panicky cause I don't want to go through what I did when my heart would go up and down numerous times at the ER, I believe I was traumatized from it since I continuously check my pulse. Thanks so much for comment Shaws.

I have looked on your Profile page you've given no thyroid history and looking down a few of your posts I see you were hyperthyroid previously.

So when Endo said 'it is still too high' I assume she was referring to TSH of .22? I have read that Methimazole is prescribed to lower the output of hormones from the thyroid gland.

If you want further comments, I'd repeat your post as I just assumed you were hypo and other might have done. I'd put Hyperthyroid in the heading and those who are/have been should respond.

I am hypo and, of course, not medically qualified.

Shaws I have both graves and hashimoto. My last tsh level last month was .96 now its .22 My specialist hasn't done a free 4 in two months and never has done a free 3 on me, so basically I'm just asking questions about my tsh level, I've been feeling more better than before so hopefully I won't have to worry about going hyper since my tsh level dropped from a .96 to a .22 thanks a lot shaws.

Sarajuarez2912,

How you are feeling is more important than what is or isn't tested. As you are feeling wonderful there's no need to worry about FT4 or FT3 :)

That's right Clutter, but how will the doctor know if I'm ever going into remission? Just wondering. She also did say that all her patients had a low reading or it could be the lab department ( I know she was just exaggerating) thanks you've been a blessing with helping so many out, just so very true thankful.

Sarajuarez2912,

Endo will know when TSH rises further on 5mg. 0.22 is no longer suppressed. Although 0.22 is still below range it is almost in range so you will probably be able to stop taking 5mg and try for remission in a few months.

Sarajuarez2912,

TSH can fluctuate quite a bit during the day which is why it is a good idea to arrange the test at the same time in order to make comparison. See the graph in the link below healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
