Newbie needs help with Bluehorizon results, please

Hi all

I'm new member, and having read some excellent advice, I do hope someone can help me here. I have had a thyroid function blood test from Bluehorizon as I constantly feel tired and washed out both mentally and physically. Some days I really struggle to get going. Weight gain is a problem - but this has been a lifelong problem and may have nothing at all to do with it.

A little about my recent medical history:

In 2014 had a lumpectomy for breast cancer. I had a course of radiotherapy and I currently take Anastrozole 1mg each day, along with 2 x Accrete D3 each day.

In October 2016 I had a colonoscopy with 4 haemorrhoids banded due to excessive bleeding. My blood test at GPs suggested I was iron deficient so I had a course (84 tablets) of Ferrous Fumarate 210mg which ended at the end of January 2017.

I have attached a photo of my Bluehorizon blood test.

Any comments would be very much appreciated as I am out of my depth!

Thank you for any help you can give

Shirley

PS. I do have some previous blood test results from GP but I can only add one photo on here.

Shirley, you need to take this down as it has all your personal details on show. You can redact that information and just post the results.

Regards

Colin

Hi Colin

I had removed my personal information. The only part about me is that I am female, the lab ref number and the date of my blood tests. The part of the address showing is that of Bluehorizon. Or is there something I've missed - I'm not surprised the way my brain is not working at moment! Thank you for looking out for me.

Ah! OK, I thought that might have been your address.

You can still have Hashimoto's, even with low antibodies. A scan of thyroid can confirm diagnosis.

If it was Hashimoto's then many of us find gluten free diet offers great reduction in symptoms.

Have you tried changing to a gluten free diet to see if it offers any improvement?

Would/could radiotherapy perhaps have upset Thyroid?

Are you on Thyroid medication? If you are TSH is a bit high. If you aren't then you will struggle to get a thyroid diagnosis with these results

Your B12 and Folate are low. Supplementing a good B complex and B12 sublingual lozenges would be good idea

Hi Slow dragon

I was interested in what you wrote about diagnosing Hashimotos by scan.

I am new to this so wondered what the scan would show. Thanks

Something is causing your high RT3. Not inflammation by the look of your CRP, which looks good to me as a non-medical person. You have low in range ferritin so I would suggest you do a full iron panel (serum iron, TIBC, transferrin saturation, ...) as you could be suffering from low iron. Iron anaemia could be a problem for you. This would drive up RT3. Your ratio of RT3/FT3 is not good. Your folate and B12 are low and need sorting out as SlowDragon points out. Low B12 can also increase RT3. Hopefully sorting these out would allow your RT3 to return to normal levels. I'm not sure what effect radiotherapy would have sorry.
