Thyroid monitoring

Just a quick question. I have ordered a Thyroid Monitoring blood test and I'm just a bit unsure about when to take my meds. I have started taking my meds at night and it has suited me well, I actually sleep better & wake refreshed (not like a Gorilla has snuck into my room and thrown me around all night). I take Levo 125mcg & 6mcg T3 (with a second 6mcg T3 midday because I was crashing badly by then). Do I take them as normal before doing bloods early next morning? I usually take them about 11pm. Should I move dosage earlier?

Usual advice on ALL thyroid tests, is to do test early in morning, ideally before 9am. No food or drink beforehand (other than water) If you are doing finger prick test, make sure you have drunk plenty of water, to make blood flow easier

If you are taking Levo, then don't take it in 24 hours before (take straight after).

Like you, I normally take Levo at bedtime, so the night before test don't take the T4 at bedtime, but take it after test in the morning.

But normal advice on here for T3 is to only leave 12 hours before test for that. So you would/should take bedtime T3.

This way your tests are always consistent; testing early in morning, before eating will show highest TSH, and as this is mainly all the medics decide dose on, the idea is to keep result as high as possible
