Looking for help with Drs appt.

I have just had my diabetic review. My blood test results came back and I have now been called in to see my new doctor for TSH & cholesterol results as I have been told by receptionist they are out of sync, which is why doctor needs to see me.

My appt is on Monday 13th Feb.. I would like to have some knowledge of what to ask my doctor as I suspect I have an under active thyroid. The symptoms I have are as follows:

I can't lose weight no matter how much little I eat.

I am cold most of the time, even though I always used to be hot all of the time.

Suffer from depression.

I am constantly having cramping/aches in joints and all over my body.

Low/no energy tired all of the time, sluggish, some constipation.

Brain fog, slower speech at times, forgetfulness

Hearing loss in both ears, left ear more so I now wear a hearing aid.

Tinnitus

----on the plus side my blood sugar is in good control, I am on metformin and insulin. I am a type 2 diabetic.

I will have record of new results Monday.

Most recent blood results before were:

8 Sept 2016

TSH 1.7 0.30 - 5.50 results say normal range

T4 free 13 10.00 - 22.00

Cholesterol ratio 5.7

BP 137/90

If your TSH is high, then it's not surprising your cholesterol is high. High cholesterol is a symptom of hypo. Do not let your doctor put you on statins! Just treating your for hypo, with thyroid hormone replacement, will bring down your cholesterol. :)

LaLuna,

Post your new results with the ranges (the figures in brackets after the results) in a new post and members will advise.

Your Sept2016 results were euthyroid (normal).

Both low TSH and low normal FT4 might mean secondary hypo, but I don't think GPs are taught about this.

That FT4 is only 25% into range, so FT3 will be correspondingly low and that will give you symptoms regardless of TSH. It was doctors regarding results like that as euthyroid that kept me ill for nine years!

Thank you for all your replies. As I am completely new to this site and no nothing about thyroid issues I welcome all of your posts but really don't understand much of the tests, results or ranges.

I clearly need to talk to my doctor (who is new to me, I just moved) I will get all of my results and hopefully have some treatment plan in place. I will post back here tomorrow.

Feeling anxious 😳

Many of your symptoms could also be linked to LOW B12. You need to be tested along with FERRITIN - FOLATE - VitD. Good leveld needed for you to feel well and for thyroid hormones to work efficiently.

Are you taking any other meds ?

Do you have gut issues ?
