JAN86 If you still feel tired a lot then you probably aren't optimally medicated or are low in nutrients. It would be an idea to have FT4 and FT3 tested. If your GP wont do them then get a private fingerprick test from Blue Horizon.

Tiredness could also be due to low ferritin. Have you ever had vitamins and minerals tested?

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

If so post the results. If not then it would be a good idea to also get them done with Blue Horizon. They do a bundle which includes all thyroid tests plus all those vitamins and minerals. Well worth doing to get a complete picutre and if any deficiencies are found supplements can be recommended.

JAN86 It doesn't really matter what dose your on (and that will be 125mcg :) ), if you're still tired, and maybe have other symptoms, then it's either under medication or low nutrients. Advice still stands to test. Unless, of course, you're happy as you are.

Underdosing can cause osteporosis and heart disease. They can't tell if you are over-dosed (or under-dosed) as they haven't tested your thyroid hormones (free T4 and free T3), just your TSH, which is not produced by the thyroid. If you have hashis, you might find that a gluten-free diet helps lessen antibody attacks. It is imporatnt for your vitamins and minerals to be optimum, not just in range, so post the results here for advice. GPs aren't trained in nutrition.
