Tdap shot and thyroid

This is a weird question but I'm always cautious before I do anything. I have to get my tdap shot within the next few weeks before the baby comes and I wanted to make sure it doesn't have any impact on the thyroid or thyroid meds.

Tdap

The lower case "d" and "p" indicated smaller concentrations of diphtheria pertussis toxoids, and "a" in "ap" indicates that the pertussis toxoids are acellular. Two Tdap vaccines are available in the U.S. Adacel, manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur, is licensed for use in adults ages 11 to 64. Boostrix, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, is licensed for use in adolescents and adults ages 10 to 64. The U.S.'s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recommended its use in adults of all ages, including those age 65 and above. After the 2010 passage of Assembly Bill 354, the State of California requires all students entering grades 7-12 provide proof of Tdap vaccination as a condition of enrollment in both public and private schools.[8][9]

The U.S.'s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recommended that both adolescents and adults receive Tdap in place of their next Td booster (recommended to be given every 10 years).[10][11][12][13] Tdap can be used as prophylaxis for tetanus in wound management. People who will be in contact with young infants are encouraged to get Tdap even if it has been less than 5 years since Td or TT to reduce the risk of infants being exposed to pertussis. The ACIP statement on Tdap use in adolescents encourages 5 years between Td and Tdap to reduce this[specify] risk; however, both suggest that shorter intervals may be appropriate in some circumstances, such as for protection in pertussis outbreaks. NACI suggests intervals shorter than 5 years can be used for catch-up programs and other instances where programmatic concerns make 5-year intervals difficult.

Apologies Learner1, Click on the bottom link and in the search bar write 'Tdap vaccine and pregnant women' It should link to it.

I am still searching for the top link about Dr Mercola's link to the Tdap vaccine, though on the site the link takes you to, at the bottom there is a 'Vaccine' link to click onto. I will see if I can find it again, unfortunately there are 30+ pages of vaccines posts, all very interesting reads.

I had a nurse running after me in the way to the operating room going to have a radical hysterectomy for my cancer. She was waving needles trying to give me a flu shot and a pneumonia shot.... I couldn't figure out why I would want another insult to my body at such an inopportune time.

It's up to us to decide if the risks are worth taking for each and every vaccine. They do damage some unfortunate people permanently.

Pleased you found it Learner, that is terrible chasing after you with the vaccines when you probably already have low immune system. We know vaccines do damage, my Grandchild is a vaccine victim and had an adverse effect with the vaccine and got blue lighted to emergency.

We could actually 'see' the evidence that the vaccine was the cause of the reaction, but we didn't know that day what was to come shortly afterwards.

I keep well away from these dangerous weapons now.

I feel for you and your grandchild. I've been following the vaccine controversy for a few years now, reading all sides of the issue. It is very clear that they do harm some people with genetic vulnerabilities and/or other environmental exposures which overwhelm the body.

This all said, there is a public good to them. It's just that we need to be aware of our individual risks and the nature of each vaccine to decide if they're an acceptable risk.

Like, if there were a Lyme vaccine, I'd seriously consider it. But to have an elective one, with dubious benefit, is not worth the risk!
