Hashimoto, levothyroxin 100 mcg , excessive fatigue when having viral illness

My daughters 14 and had hashimoto for 9 months. During this time, everyone she has a virus which has been a lot more frequent since diagnosis, she gets extreme fatigue, she has difficulty sitting up, sleeps 20 hours a day. This can be up to 5 days until the virus starts to go.

The consultant has suggested cortisol tests. Anyone with hashimoto had the same?

Her last thyroid bloods were in normal range with her meds. Within last 2 weeks.

She is 5ft 7 inch and 6 stone 5

CharButterfly,

What are your daughter's recent thyroid results and ranges (the figures in brackets after results)? It's not enough to have results in range, they need to be optimal within range. Your daughter doesn't sound as though she is optimally medicated. If you have results and ranges for ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate please also post them.

There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

It looks like she's underweight. Has she been tested for celiac disease? Worth getting cortisol tested and asking for Endo referral if she haven't already.

Yeah she's been under weight since diagnosis and had two coeliac tests which have been negative. There are 0lans to test cortisol level within the next couple of weeks . Just waiting for hospital to send the form then GP can do the bloods.

Thanks for ur imputation x

She may still have gluten sensitivity, see Clutter's advice above. My daughter has CFS and low cortisol and her energy improved significantly after going gluten-free, then improved again when she went on the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol, so she obviously has multiple food sensitivities which we were previously completely unaware of. May be worth investigating:
