That was really good. And really making me think. I am gluten free because I get very poorly if I'm not, and I know when something glutinous has slipped into my diet. :( It's getting other people to understand that's the problem. Eating out at restaurants, eating out at other people's houses - I'm invariably ill afterwards to varying degrees. And that's difficult. No one believes that a tiny bit can hurt. That biscuit crumbs in the butter can be a problem. That a sprinkling of flour on my otherwise gluten free pizza is a problem. That a biscuit crumb in a cup of tea can be a problem.

Sigh.

It is a huge problem and paticularly if it makes you much worse. Initially you probably though it was due only to thyroid hormones.

In all honesty, I now think I got it the wrong way around. That if I'd realised it was gluten causing the problem my thyroid problems might have sorted themselves out without me needing to take thyroid hormone replacement. But I can't prove that without stopping thyroid hormones - and that's not an easy thing to contemplate doing. So I carry on taking my Nature Throid and avoiding gluten...

It's only as we get further into autoimmune diseases that we can see that there can be many causes which can start off a reaction.

When we are healthy we would never think that food in general or one or two in particular would create health problems. It's only now that we have a disease and reading etc that we find out what may be the prominent cause.
