Magnesium

I have just got these today from Amizon to try and help me sleep. I have most of the symptoms of low magnesium and these ones are meant to help with sleep which is my worst problem. Has anyone else taken these and how many tablets should I take and when? Do they upset your tummy too as I already take laxido?

What strength are they?

If they help with sleep, then they need to be taken at bedtime. But, remember, they should be taken at least four hours away from thyroid hormone. And away from iron.

You might want to come off your laxative when you start them, just to see the effect they have on you. You don't want a double dose laxative, do you!

Most forms of magnesium are supposed to help with sleep, and I've tried most of them. But none of them have made me sleepier. But, that's just me. You have to try them to see what effect they have on you. :)

They are 100mg each tablet. Was going to start taking 2 before bed and see how that goes. I usually take my laxido in the morning so will see if the magnesium affects my bowel before taking it. Want to try it over the weekend before going back to work on Monday. I have had bowel surgery and have been diagnosed with slow transit constipation so the muscles and nerves in my bowel don't work. I take 125mg of lethrothyroxine before I get up in the morning and don't take any iron. Seeing my GP next week and my bowel surgeon so will speak to them about it all.

That sounds about right, then. Best to start low and work up. :)

Hi Kerry1971

I have tried taking magnesium citrate to help me sleep and to combat severe constipation as I don't want to keep taking laxido. I have taken 400mg every night for the last 2 weeks, but as yet have not had any improvement. Perhaps I need to try a different type of magnesium, as many people on the forum have had positive results from taking them, I hope they work for you.

It would be so nice to be able to sleep well and not to suffer from constipation. My friends and family don't understand the problems, annoyingly suggesting eating more fibre which we already do.

What magnesium are you taking? I have been diagnosed with slow transit constipation and had 1/3 of my bowel removed last year due to severe constipation which made my bowel long and loopy. I was on so much medication before my surgery and still getting obstruction so am a lot better now. I only have 1 to 2 laxido a day now but am gluten, dairy and soya free which also helps. I'm on 125mg of lethrothyroxine.

The best magnesiym for sleep is the mag oil spray on the soles of feet before bed. The Facebook group "magnesium advocacy group" is really good
