Fine tuning for T4 and T3 doses.

Hello All. I recently had my first blood test after adding T3 to T4. The results were FT4 20 (12.0-22.0), FT3 6.3 (3.1-6.8). Prior to starting T3 the FT4 was 21 and FT3 4.9. I'm feeling better than I did, but there is still room for improvement. I'm currently taking 125mcg T4 and 10mcg T3. My first thought was to maybe reduce my T4 dose as I don't think it needs to be as high as that when taking T3, or is my logic all wrong? Any input appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have hypo symptoms?.Both FT4 & FT3 are in upper range.

Hi Juliatom , since adding T3 my symptoms have, mostly, improved but I still need to rest every afternoon. Still have dry, flaking skin, low temperature (although I don't feel cold)!, slight brain fog and my hair has started falling out again. I know the levels look good but I'm thinking maybe the FT4 is too high. Thanks for your reply.

I'd suggest staying on that dose for a few weeks. It's not a good idea to chop/change frequently otherwise you might never get to a stable dose. That's what you want - a dose which makes you feel well with relief of symptoms. I'd wait for about six weeks before adjusting. Your blood results look good but it's how we 'feel' which is the best judge.

Thanks shaws . That sounds logical - I'll stick with it for a while and see how I feel.
