Hypo and pregnant

Hello to everyone!! I am looking for some advice please... After my first pregnancy, 2 years ago, I was left with my thyroid not functioning properly. Went to see the doctor and from there found out this is quite common after birth. I was put on levo 125 to keep it under control and it seems it works (not ideal but life is life as I have my bad days). Anyway, now I am pregnant again and I am asking kindly if anyone can advise on if I should increase levo at least for first three months of pregnancy as it seems (researched on internet) this a quite important period for baby. I have tried GP and as the rest of you I am witnessing a successful failure of NHS to provide adequate advise or treatment.

Fortunately forums like this exist and we are able to educate ourselves - THANK YOU HEALTH UNLOCKED !!

Also...if anyone has any general advise considering my circumstances??!!

Thank you in advance!!

Constanciuk,

Congratulations!

It is usual to increase Levothyroxine dose by 25-50mcg when pregnancy is confirmed to ensure good foetal development and to reduce the risk of miscarriage by ensuring TSH remains in the low-normal range 0.4-2.0.
