trying to help a lady I know on DLA

she has a letter telling her she has to change to PIP and worrying about it- if she is refused PIP can she claim attendance allowance?

If she has a condition where there is a charity with a branch not too far away the best thing she or you can do on here can do on her behalf is engage them in the process.

benefitsandwork.co.uk/ their guides on filling in the forms with examples etc are brilliant and the forum... well ...saved my life on transfer from indefinite IB to ESA.

As do I. Mind you so do most now dealing with DWP unfortunately. When I first became ill they were empathic and so caring and helpful but now its all about finding ways to stop helping☹ Making the sick sicker, and suicidal as in my case. I wish your friend all the luck in the world.

fibrolinda does that sitecost toregister?

Gosh yes it does I didn't think,£19.95 for a year. But there is lots of info available freely to all and if my brain would only function I could tell you what... so sorry. If your friend can afford it I would highly recommend it, well worth the money just for the members guides on filling in the forms

Hi bluepettals2, I never claimed DLA because I wasn't aware that I could. I was informed that I was entitled to PIP over 18 months ago. The process was much easier than I imagined it would be. Initial phone call on general questions and a visit from a lovely lady who went through the forms. I also had a gentleman from mind who came and helped me fill in the forms prior to the PIP ladies visit. All DLA payments are being changed to PIP now. Your friend should not worry, she should gather any info together that may be relevant. If her condition has got worse this would be a good opportunity to inform them. It is done on a point system. This form shows the questions asked, if she feels other things may help, tell her to have them ready to declare. x Good Wishes to her. PS they came to my home which was good for me. x

I'm sorry you aren't well at the moment bluepettals2 x Delegate things, you need to learn this saying 'sorry I am unable to help with that right now'. It's hard I know, but from experience I know how draining wanting to help everyone can be. You my friend need to be kind to yourself right now x If they left things unchanged they wouldn't be able to justify their jobs. You take care of yourself because you are precious x

The form is just to show you the questions that are asked. The form should be sent out to your friend or the person who visits will bring it with them x

Like yes, she could claim twice over x

Just to say most people have no problems and get what they should, handled with dignity and respect. Mine wasn't the case and on benefits and work people are on there because things have gone wrong.

Have a look at this new site - pipinfo.net

Make sure she includes letters from GP or specialists in with her info, as they generally just go by what is in the bundle and do not contact anyone.

oh really? we thought that she has to have a medical assesemnt at least that is what she was told on fone when she foned to put her claim in.. that would be better as she has a lot of clinic letters..

thanks S.

If enough evidence is in the bundle they may not give her a medical assessment. They may do a phone assessment, or a face to face, it all depends on whoes desk the file lands!
