There's no such thing as 'normal' where thyroid is concerned. What your doctor means when he says 'normal', is 'in-range'. But that's not the same as optimal. It's where in the range that the numbers fall that count. If your TSH is at the top of the range - the top of the range is usually much too high - and your FT4 and FT3 are at the bottom, then you are more than likely hypo.

When you get your test, do ask for a print-out. It is your legal right to have one, under the 1998 Data Protection Act. Post them on here, with the ranges, and let us have a look. :)

Fibro and AF are often linked to LOW T3. Your Thyroid can be functioning and producing T4 - a storage hormone that does so little - but then does not convert into the ACTIVE thyroid hormone T3.

Your muscles need good levels of T3 and your heart is also a muscle. How are your levels of Ferritin - B12 - Folate - VitD ? All need to be OPTIMAL for your body to work well.

Private Testing is available through Thyroid UK - but wait and see what your GP has requested. Probably just the TSH - sigh :-(

I am not a medic - you can click onto my name above and read of my journey to wellness - which did at one time include fibro and a host of other issues.
