Have you also had a thyroid function test? Your immunology test results would confirm that you have autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's) and the thyroid function test should persuade your doctor to start treatment, usually with Levothyroxine.

Starting treatment; making sure your selenium level is OK; and not eating any gluten-containing foods may all help reduce the antibody levels and their attack on your thyroid gland.

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. There is no cure or treatment for autoimmune disease but you may be able to slow progression by adopting 100% gluten-free diet which may also improve symptoms and reduce antibodies.

Did your doctor test TSH, FT4 and FT3 to check your thyroid function?
