hi all, i seen my nurse today for further blood tests not connected with my thyroid. she told me that my thyroid levels are now falling within guidelines (i have been on levo for 6 weeks) but my thyroid antibody level was 18.6.

she said i would need to wait to see my doctor for a full explanation. any help with what this means please.

Lizdarragh,

If 18.6 is over range it means it is positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. There is no cure or treatment for autoimmune diseases but 100% gluten-free diet may improve symptoms and reduce antibodies. Levothyroxine treats the hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto's.
