Fibromyalgia, Hashimotos and more..

Had TT last October, Hashimotos a dash of cancer and the accompanying issues of being hyper and hypo on a daily basis for god knows how many years. Still not 100% recovered but getting there slowly slowly.

My question is to function, i.e. to get out of the house and have a life, I'm having to take Tramadol, which I began about a month ago, and paracetamol for chronic back muscle and joint pain. Fybromyalgia, spondylitis, scoliosis and a couple of bulging discs. Ive always been a physically active person, i've never let these issues stop me but the pai is quite severe at the moment..

Tramadol is not a route i want to take for the rest of my life. Any others on here have the same issues and do you use alternative measures to function on a daily basis.

Any help or recommendations gratefully appreciated...

Nick

Hi I also was given tram for constant pain right side into back / shoulder . I stopped it tho because it made me feel like a zombie plus I was having like seizure symtoms in my sleep . I am now on amtitripiline / cocodamol . I also take magnesium plus all the other recommended vits . To be honest I am half the person I was a year ago . Most days I gave Cronic fatigue / pain but i try to soldier on . Don't mean to be a moner but it's so annoying wanting to be your old self again 😤 . Anyway try your GP for amtitripine it might help . Personally I feel it's all a big crock of s... But I keep taking the tabs hopefully il wake someday to a miracle an feel norm again . I do hope you will get sorted with relief to the pain your suffering with 😀

What are your blood results now? You may well be undermedicated, esp as far as T3 goes, as some of it is produced in the thyroid, which you now don't have. Also worth checking that your D3 (implicated in muscle and joint pain), ferritin, B12 and folate (implicated in fatigue etc) are all at optimum levels, not just "in range".

Epsom salt baths can ease aches and pains and help sleep. Magnesium oil rubbed in has the same effect. Be careful though, too much causes diarrhoea.

Ask for your levels of B12, ferritin, folate and VitD to be tested, if they are low the pain is worse.

I get a steriod injection depo-medrol 80mg into the bum. It usually helps with the inflammation and joint pain. The plan is to treat the cause of the pain which is inflammation. This can last me for up to several months. I hope this helps you.
