It is vitamin k2 you need. This makes sure that the extra calcium goes to your teeth and bones rather than your arteries where it can be dangerous. I'm not sure if a GP will prescribe it, I would guess not. It is easily and cheaply bought from a health food shop. I buy Solgar K2 from Holland and Barrett. I can't remember how much but it is not expensive, probably no more than a prescription charge.

Edit: see my amended information in reply below. I was wrong about price!

I have just purchased d3 and k2 drops .

I am sick of swallowing pills and you just pop three drops into a cold drink .

I don't know if anyone else has tried these .

elvera111 Some members have reported that their doctors have no idea about Vit K2 or that it is needed when taking Vit D, so I imagine it's not available on prescription. It's easy enough to obtain but then there's the debate about whether it should be MK7 or MK4. So much confusing information out there, I take a K Complex which provides both so I'm covered whichever one it is

healthmonthly.co.uk/life_ex... or

amazon.co.uk/Life-Extension...

Healthspan do a good quality K2 MK7 . If purchasing look for discount code on internet first. x

Vitamin k 2 in holland and Barrett is nearly £24 for 50x100mg from solgar! You can buy exactly the same ones for about £9 from amazon. It's a no brainer. Can't believe how much more expensive H&B is.

I have my vitamin D on repeat prescription. When I found out that I needed to have K2 as well, I told my doctor this - he just said, "oh really?" and that was the extent of his interest. I now source my own Vitamin D3 with K2.
