Cushings Syndrome/Disease

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with Cushings syndrome/disease, as well as Hashimoto's? How long did it take for diagnosis?

If anyone has, any info you could provide would be great..

Thanks..

I haven't but my other half has.

It took two weeks from doctors visit to be diagnosed but he had very severe symptoms. He had Cushing's disease. He was operated on the following week.

I'm curious about the symptoms he had? I only ask, because I am 99.9% certain that I have either the syndrome or the disease, and am currently undergoing tests. Waiting for an initial blood test result at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it..

Sorry, I am not getting any notifications at the moment and therefore not checking back on stuff.

Symptoms appeared quickly and developed quickly. He had stretch marks on his stomach, purple in colour. He became very bloated to the stomach and the face. Very very irritable. All this happened in a 3 to 6 month period. I do not know which tests they ran either, which is terrible really as I went to the doctors with him but like I said, within two weeks he had surgery and he as been fine every since on medication.

I'm still in the process and have been testing etc for ssecetal years. The endo thinks I may be cynical which makes it much much harder to test and diagnose as it comes and goes. The most important thing is to have a really knowledgable endo. I might have been sent away after a couple of tests but this team took time to listen to a full history , examine me , look at a timeline of photos , and haven't given up on the possibility. Not everyone has it floridly. It can be quite subtle. I don't have hashimotos but I do have U/A thyroid.

I've been dismissed for the last 3 years, but luckily for me, my old Endo retired, and my new one, he is like a breath of fresh air, he took the time to listen to me, and to explain everything he wanted to do regarding tests etc. I am more hopeful with this Endo, than I ever was with the previous one.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it..

Not sure if this will be of any help because I am extrapolating from horses. My daughter is an equine vet and Cushings is common in ponies. I believe the test is one for insulin resistance which is a simple blood test taken after, if I remember correctly, a fast of 8 hours or so followed by high sugar intake. Undesirable of course but better than remaining undiagnosed.

Of course it could be totally different in humans and I am no vet so just going from memory.

Hey there.

I am currently awaiting my appointment with the endocrologist (think that's spelt right :/)

Over the past year I have suddenly gained 5 stone. I have a huge tummy but smallish arms and legs, I have the worst stretch marks all over my body when I have never had one in my life before. Also over the past few weeks I have noticed a small lump of fat forming in between my shoulders. I have also lost all the features of my face, I don't look like me anymore I have a more rounded face. I just generally feel tired and unwell a lot too. I also haven't had a period for 5 months.

I recently had an ultrasound scan for pain in my right side and bloating, turns out I have fat gathering on my liver also at the moment which isn't good so not sure what is causing that.

When I saw my GP yesterday she had referred me 1st September to the specialist but I hadn't heard anything, after seeing her yesterday she said she wanted me to be seen within the next month, but when calling the specialist they have me down for 9th December which isn't good so now leaving it with the GP to chase.

I think the first test for cushing's is a blood test to rule out thyroid issues and things, then if your GP really thinks its cushing's in which you have then they should refer you to a specialist, as cushing's is rare I am unsure whether GP's actually recognise the symptoms sometimes. When you do see a specialist they usually do a 24 hour urine test before sending you for an MRI.

Overall I started noticing my symptoms a year ago now.

I hope this helps a little, sorry for rambling on a bit haha x
