Hi All, im currently 22 weeks pregnant and have had graves disease for over 8 years. Since falling pregnant with my 2nd child, my graves disease has elevated and now i've have been told i have antibodies in my blood.

Does anyone know how the baby will be treated if they cross the placenta? Any advice is welcome..

Tanya_Lee,

I'm sorry you've had no replies.

If the antibodies cross the placenta and cause foetal thyrotoxicosis Carbimazole can be prescribed as it also crosses the placenta and will reduce foetal thyroid levels.
