Not sure if this has been published here before, but I found these two articles very interesting and enlightening:

As someone who has been struggling with hypertension, high levels of uric acid, and insulin resistance for years, I cannot help but think that many doctors do not have a clue...I find it especially interesting what Dr. Mercola says about high levels of uric acid, rather than salt intake causing hypertension.
I am currently treated with medication both for high blood pressure and elevated levels of uric acid, but I hope to be able to wean off at least the latter, using natural methods to lower them. I have never had gout (it seems many people with high uric acid levels never go on to develop gout), but there seems to be a direct link between hypertension and excessive uric acid.
To me, this just goes to show how everything is interlinked, and how clueless many doctors are...I cannot remember how many times I have been told to avoid salt, even though I only use Celtic sea salt and Himalayan salt, but no doctor has ever made the connection between insulin resistance, high levels of uric acid, and hypertension...
Also, there was a link to an article published in the Lancet concluding that as far as alcohol consumption is concerned, beer is the worst culprit when it comes to raising uric acid levels (as it is high in sugar), whereas wine does not seem to have this effect at all.
