Results advise please

So I have been on T3/T4 since 17th March and here are my results before (t4 only)and after starting t3:

19/2/16 15/5/16

TSH (0.2-4.5) 0.010 0.02

Free T4 (9-21) 21 12

Total T3 (0.9-2.4) 1.8 1.2

I did fast and no meds for 24 hours but question is do these results seem ok or am I needing to have the meds tweaked at all. Was previously on 200 T4 which was dropped to 150 and 20 T3 added. I do feel so much better 😀

Any advise greatly appreciated

Dpa87,

TSH remains suppressed and FT4 has dropped because you are taking T3. Strangely, FT3 has dropped since you added 20mcg T3. If you feel well I wouldn't make any changes. If you are still symptomatic I would increase T3 to 30mcg.

Morning, my GP called on Friday to discuss above blood test results and said he wasn't sure how to proceed as the Endo had advised my T4 was to remain in upper level. He was thinking about increasing my T4. I advised I wanted to remain on what I was on as felt well at the moment. So he said we would check bloods in 6months to see how I'm getting on. What are your thoughts, as I do feel well but there was a fair drop in the T4 from 21 down to 12 and surprising that T3 dropped after adding it for the first time. Think my GP happy to be lead by what I say which is a relief. He did mention cost of T3 and I advised I was not prepared to give it up fuel to positive impact I've had being on it and I would source myself if it came to that but they would need to medically support me with blood tests etc and he said it was fine to stay on and he reaurhorised ongoing prescription.

Dpa87,

On Levothyroxine FT4 needs to be in upper range. On T4+T3 FT4 often drops as a high level of what is basically a storage hormone isn't required when taking T3 direct.

If you begin to feel less good, take up your doctor's offer to increase your T4 dose to 175mcg as that will raise FT4 and convert to more FT3.
