When you eliminate these addictive, toxic foods and drinks, you may initially have uncomfortable reactions like feeling achy, flu-like feelings, irritability, nausea, headaches, brain fog, constipation, hunger, itchy skin, fatigue and sleep difficulties.

My husband had been feeling unwell for some time, always full of gas, almost constantly on the toilet, waking up every day with a hangover and feeling like he'd drank 10 pints of Guinness and had an almighty curry the night before ( the gastroenterologist laughed at him when he told him that and said he would be a cheap date then because he had a hangover without drinking!) We had no idea what could be causing his problems and had tried cutting out fat, changing to goats milk etc. His doctor finally listened and said he thought that my husband had an intolerance to gluten. At that time he was in the RN and they refused to pay for any tests (!) so the doctor told him to go gluten free and see what happened. Within 3 days, my husband felt as though he couldn't put one foot in front of the other. He looked so ill and he's never been one to have "manflu" so I knew it wasn't put on. Then suddenly on the tenth day of being gluten free, he became a different person. He said he hadn't realised how unwell he had been feeling until he felt well and had something to compare it with. So, it's totally true that you're body does detox to get rid of something that it can't tolerate. Clemmie
Yea, I agree. I had withdrawal. I got off gluten , sugar, caffeine. Dairy, soy, alcohol. I felt washed out, exhausted first week but Kept drinking lots of water. I did it, and I don't want to do it again so I'm very careful now. I've lost bunch of weight too,But I'm on t3 only so that helped the most. Feels better definitely. I prepare everything from scratch. Gets easier as you go along.
Are you going to stay on it. I felt bad a week. Alright now.
I'm not following any particular diet plan. Just cut out what i said above. It's unbelievable how you get dependant in stuff like caffeine and bread sugar, that you actually feel withdrawal. Just awful. Hopefully Bill keep my teeth and brain cells longer now. Ha. Xx
I have the same diet and on 100mcg levothyroxine , I am trying to get t3 prescription and leave levothyroxine behind, because for 29 years on levothyroxine I have had to struggle every day. How did you get on with t3 initially? Thank you
I went Gluten free 2 weeks ago and seen no difference at all apart from my tummy not getting so swollen. I am going to go back soon. Just stick to more fresh fish, meat and vegetables and low carbs. One thing I have noticed is if I eat a yogurt with a active bio in a day it stops my tummy from swelling after carbs. Each person is so different though, so whatever is best for you.
90% of those going gluten free, do not see improvement. You would need to stop all cross reactive foods [foods that react in the body, like gluten] like rice, corn, oats as well as milk.
i have stopped all. It is possible to stop hashimotos and other autoimmune disease, by diet alone. This is the only reason i do this.
