Hi there ...I have Hyperthyroid had normal scan was told nothing nasty going on but have hypothyroiditis....Some slight swelling on left side ........Saw my specialist and she was saying that she was a bit disappointed as my levels were still high being 32 now from 34 six weeks ago.......was on 40mg Carbimazole for two weeks then down to 20mg after ....Since rushed into hosp with rapid 190 heartbeat and diagnosed with hyperthyroidsm ..and 2.5 bisoporal for heart .
She now is talking about maybe killing thyroid off as she suspects that this is going to be hard to control .....and has made appt for me to have this Thyriod Scan And Uptake Test To See If I Can Have My Throid Killed Off ...as she says it depends on results of the test.
Can anybody give me some help and advice about this ......apparently this is not a pic scan like say the ultra scan i had on my thyroid but another type of scan. So now i am a little bit muddled and confused by all of this as it is all new to me as been only having this problem 6 weeks out of the blue..So i am still trying to get my head around it all .....Thanks .

Your endo reduced dose too quickly which is why T4 level remained high. If you don't have autoimmune hyperthyroidism (Graves Disease) it is likely that your thyroid will function normally after 12-18 months of regulation with Carbimazole and you will enjoy remission. Remission is permanent in less than 50% of patients with Graves Disease. Your endo's suggestion to ablate your thyroid now, which will make you hypothyroid seems premature.

I am back on 40mg as said ...and still am chemically toxic hahaha as they say and still hyperthyroid ....i have auto immune problems in the past ..so am gaving new anti bodies blood tests done too ...i think she is jumping ahead to fast ...but she says she is just checking and doing things now ..to see and if and when it needs to be done ...she knows all things in advance so give choices of better treatments if she knows it all now rather than later having the uptake scan done ...so can offer best treatment etc ..
well thats how she explained it all ..but its all a bit much to take on board at the moment and why it all seems muddled up to me ...thank you for your help
