Accurate Thermometers

Hi there, could anyone advise about a decent thermometer to use to take regular accurate body temperature? My digital one gave three different readings in three minutes (36.2, 36.4, 36.8). I have heard the mercury ones are the best but don't fancy having mercury hanging around the house. Also, oral and armpit ones only please! Thanks.

Are you using the correct technique of inserting the probe under the side of the front of the tongue?

My old Boots 44-39-139 has a better display than the one that Amazon says is used by St John's Ambulance, but they give the same readings when used correctly.  Sometimes there may be an increase like yours, perhaps due to mouth breathing beforehand.

I'm currently at 36.1, but feeling comfortable :-)

Thanks for that, SBT, maybe I don't need to get a new one after all. Yes I do place the thing correctly in my mouth. Glad you are feeling comfortable at 36.1. Mine hovers around 36.5 but fluctuates by up to .3 per day. Am taking herbal adaptogens at the moment which seem to be helping to stabilise it, as I think there is a cortisol/adrenal thing going on.  S
