A little knowledge please

Hi all

Im hoping somebody can help me with thyroid levels.   I am a type 2 diabetic and have regular blood tests.   My last test was agin shoing my THS level as low at 0.13.   T4 16 and T3 3.4 the low TSH level  has been showing like this since 2014.   When I saw my GP last year she told me not to worry about it.   Clearly the THS level is no better.   I have an appointment to see her in a couple of weeks but I would like to go armed with some knowledge.   I have gained weight over the last 6 months about half a stone not a lot I admit but for the last 6 weeks I have been doing an 800 calorie a day diet and only lost one pound.   I have stuck to the diet religiously.   I am also having real problems with my memory I keep losing the thread of conversations I forget to buy things when Im out shopping which I have specifically gone out to buy and I keep forgetting words during my sentences.   I am always cold the heating is on 18 hours a day.   I keep getting cramp in my legs and feet.   Can anybody help me please.

Welcome to the forum, Cherylwozny.

Low TSH is really unimportant unless FT4 and FT3 are over range.  Do you have the ref ranges for FT4 and FT3 (figures in brackets after results)?

Cheryl, do you take levothyroxine?

If I were you, I would stop that diet immediately. As you've seen, it hasn't made you lose weight, and it won't make you lose weight. But, what it is doing is compromising your conversion of T4 to T3. Low calorie is a bad idea, anyway, for anyone. It just is not natural. The body needs calories to function. You should be eating at least 2000 calories a day, if not more.
