question to those of you who have tried Thyroid-S (Thai NDT)

It seems it contains a slow-release substance (Eudragit), and I am wondering how this changes the way it is absorbed compared to other drugs like Thiroyd? Is it a good thing (making it available to the body more slowly, causing less ups and downs in T3 levels), or does it seem to be absorb less well?

Hi - I used to be on Thyroid S and was fine on it for about 5 years until I had to come off it due to another medical condition. That's about all I'm qualified to say, I'm afraid. Hopefully one of the more medically/scientifically minded people will be along to give you an in depth reply soon.

thecat346,

Yet again we have a question about the ingredients of Thyroid S. Lack of a good, official list of ingredients and proper identification each of them is a problem.

I went to the Eudragit site and found there are numerous products in their range. For example:

eudragit.evonik.com/product...

Some of their products are for sustained release; others are coatings (all the ones I looked at are targeted at the stomach.)

Coatings are sometimes used to avoid taste in the mouth, absorption of air and water from the environment, etc. Your guess as to their precise effect on Thyroid S is as good or bad as any one else's.

Two years after I posted that and we still don't know the ingredients. And we seem to have some people not finding Thyroid S as readily available as was once the case.
