Been told to take 20mg Carbimazole for three weeks till my doctor will test me again to see if my levels go down, is this a long time to be on 20mg ?????

No, it takes a little time for the Carbimazole to reduce your thyroid production and for T4 and T3 levels to drop so your GP can gauge whether 20mg is optimal or needs adjusting.

You'll probably need 9-18 months of Carbimazole regulating your thyroid before your doctor weans you off to try remission.  Remission is permanent in less than 50% of patients with Graves antibodies.

Hi Peanutx, 

No! I was on 60mg for a month then 40mg, and so on until down to 10mg by 8months. 

Don't worry!
