7 days after upping from 120 to 135 I got some hot flashes and exhaustion 4 hours after medication. I split the dose in two. Is this normal? Will it go away and how fast? I was undermedicated with a TSH of 3-4

Suggest you do a temperature chart for a week or so, so you can see whether your thyroid is out or if adrenals are stressed due to thyroid increase.      I did a post about this some time ago... healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Hot flashes are not normal and raising your thyroid meds shouldnt cause them......

I Did that last time i uppered. Temp was fluctating and a little bit higher for a week then stabilized on the same temp as before. Then it was stable as a rock until i upped 15 mg again a week  ago  looking at Your charts mine is a lot more stable than that but fluctating at the moment from 36.5-36.7

I don't understand your dose as NDT is usually measured in grains ie. 1 grain is equal in effect to around 100mcg of levo.

1 grain is 65 mg. Im now on 2 1/4 grain. Or 235 mg.

Yes you are right. 1 grain is 65mg or equal in effect to 100mcg levo.

If your hot flashes started after you increased your dose, I would be apt to drop down slightly to see if they disappear you might just be on a little too much.

Jeschioz,

It may be a temporary blip as the extra dose kicks in.  If you can put up with it for another 7-10 days the hot flashes may calm down.  If not, go back to your previous dose for a couple of weeks and then try a smaller dose increase.

ThX Clutter. I have another LAB coming up in 12 days so could be wice to have a reading. Anyway, my neck hurts very much as Well . Its not the base of the neck but each side up towards skull area. I thought if it was our gland that this had to be on front just at the base?  Maybe Something else but pain seems to be in councidence with episodes like this

Jeschiotz,

Ask your doctor to examine your throat and neck. A thyroid goitre or nodule can grow towards the sides or back of the neck and sometimes down into the chest.

But can a change in dose give pain in the gland?

Jeschiotz,

I believe a reduction in dose may because TSH will increase and stimulation of the thyroid gland may cause inflammation.  I don't know whether a dose increase will.  I can't see why it would.
