Salvador,

Taste buds and the sensory receptors are being constantly replaced, and changes in health, nutrition, medications, hormones and age can all affect how they function. Changes may cause foods//saliva to taste metallic, sweet, salty, chalky, etc..

I have had a weird taste, thick saliva and a constant thirst for about two years and many investigations at Guys Hospital have bought no prognosis. The taste has actually changed over the months varying from metallic to sweet to salty and isn't too bad at present. The saliva problem continues and is really horrid and doctors think I am quite mad when I describe my symptoms.

You need to check you don't have a dental problem or infections such as sinusitis.
