The following article is again emphasizing the virtues of only frying with virgin cold pressed coconut oil, and only ever using extra virgin olive oil cold on salads etc.

Yes I would love to save the planet, but we all know the reality,  we have to look after our health, so I am sticking to what I know is the very best for us hypos, in fact everybody.  The powers that be, are paid by us, so they should be doing their job of saving the planet, as I said, that's what they're supposed to be doing, and not for us to have to worry about it.

Hi aspmama, what bursts into flames, certainly not coconut oil, I have used it for years, it heats up very high!

You're no doubt a better cook than I Lang, for years whenever my children smell smoke they chorus: "Mummy's cooking!"

When I used coconut oil to fry the whole pan burst into flames. It has a low smoke point compared to other oils, and the more unrefined, the lower the smoke point, so oils would vary, but its smoke point can be as low as 350 degrees, and it is not suitable for high temperature cooking.
