I recently read an article about people who are lactose intolerant and also those who's stomachs do not manufacture the correct amount of acid are those who thyroid medications do not work as well as individuals who do not have those problems. Unfortunately I have both of these health issues. No wonder when my doctor increases my thyroid medication it only makes a change in the very smallest amount when tested in my body. I, unfortunately, lost where I read that article so I need to do some more research in that area. Anyone else out there who heard of this?

Low stomach acid is a common problem with hypothyroidism, and I'd frequently discussed here. If you have the problem there are various ways of dealing with it, but suffice to say that PPIs drugs like lansoprazole and omeprazole make it worse, and cause other problems.
And the book that I am reading at the moment ('The Digestive Health Solution)') reckons that most people are lactose intolerant to some extent. Most can cope with the small amount in pills, but if you can't there are lactose free versions of most drugs. I wouldn't panic till you see an improvement on a dairy free diet, which is easier to achieve than lactose free medication.
Hi,
A lot of people benefit from a spoon or two of probiotic apple cider vinegar before meals, to increase stomach acids & aid the breakdown of nutrients.
A bottle of organic ACV with probiotics is under £3 for a 750ml bottle. It lasts quite a while, & it's also nice in salad dressings.
There are lots of websites promoting the benefits of daily ACV, though I tend to take it when I have a craving or indigestion, as I'm not sure how compatible it is with kefir.
