Dr. Lam Dysfunction

A private Dr. has put me on Armour and tried me on Adreset for adrenal support, I became terribly ill and had to stop after the third day. Dr at first told me to continue with the Adreset and do EFT tapping so my body will accept it.... After reading Dr. Lam's site about the body being unable to process properly, I realised that the supplements, herbs, food etc I have had problems with were not my fault but my body unable to process and making me worse instead of being supportive and making me better.

I am taking Armour 9th day today after switching from Levothyroxine, tomorrow up to 3 tablets, liquid Iron Spatone because of low blood result, Bio kult probiotic, Vit C, going to order Liposomal C, everything else I am taking a rest from. Apparently I have an infection somewhere in my body according to bloods. The anxiety feeling in my body starts about 2hrs after taking Armour and lasts until late afternoon towards evening, then it settles, but still cannot sleep well. Has anyone managed to recover adrenals with this type of body dysfunction, I'm frightened of putting anything in my body now. I e-mailed the Dr saying I could not take the Adreset but after 3 days still no reply. Dr said I am hypersensitive to everything at the moment. I tried Ashwaghanda, Licorice, B12, B5, Magnesium and loads of others but they all made me worse. I am just about holding on by taking Melatonin at night, when desperate I took Passion Flower which helped me all day the other day, but today just about took the edge off. I feel so desperate that my body is working so efficiently against me how can I overcome this?

You don't say how much Armour you began with. Usually it is 1/2 grain with an increase about every 2 weeks until you feel better (unless you were on a higher dose of levo).

You have to take thyroid hormones about 4 hours apart (I would anyway) from other supplements. I couldn't take Adrenal support as it made me feel terrible.

The problem too, when we are adding this and that, we cannot distinguish what is causing the problem. So I always add one thing at a time. First I'd get the thyroid hormones right first and then supplements/etc. There's no easy way unfortunately and we all differ.

Do you have any blood test results for your thyroid hormones, with the ranges, if so post them for comments. If not to hand, put them on a new post tomorrow.

When your next blood test is due, make the appointment at the earliest and don't eat before the test although you can drink water. Also, leave about 24 hours between Armour and the test and take it afterwards. Also ask for Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate if not already done. Post results if you have them.

Helpme2, what dose Levothyroxine were you taking and what dose Armour are you taking? There are 15mg, 30mg, 45mg, 60mg and 120mg doses so saying you take 3 tablets isn't illuminating.

Sorry...I was on 75mg of Levothyroxine. Dr. put me on Erfa to start with but was ill on it so was taken off it after one and a half weeks and put on Armour. Dr said to take one 30mg tablet for two days, two tablets for 7 days then up to three tablets.

Helpme2, okay 90mg Armour is slightly more than 75mcg Levothyroxine. Try taking 30mg morning, afternoon and bedtime as evening out the T3 in Armour may help you avoid the anxiety.

Try taking the adrenal support without any thyroid medication. After a few weeks, start taking a low dose of your thyroid meds and slowly increase the amount you take.

Not everyone gets on with adrenal supplements. I had problems with NutriAdrenal and, more recently, with Adreset where I was also taking Bio Kult which upset my stomach terribly.

How is your infection being addressed?
