Changing from Thiroyd to Thyroid S - dosage?

Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help. I'm taking 4 grains of Thiroyd but when I went to reorder it wasn't available. So I bought Thyroid S. Can anyone advise if I should change my dosage with the change in medication, please?

Many thanks

From what I have seen on sites selling both drugs, Thiroyd is like Erfa; that is, contains 8 mcg of T3 and 35 mcg of T4 per 60 mg pill, whereas Thyroid-S is like Armour and Naturethorid (60 mg pill = 9 mcg of T3 and 38 mcg of T4). So yes, one pill of Thyroid-S will approximately give you 3 mcg more T4, and 1 mcg more T3, than one pill of Thiroyd.

I hope it's ok to ask this question here, even if not really related to subject.

Thyroid-S is said to contain a sustain-released substance called Eudragit. Can anyone tell if that is a good thing?

All of the Ndt's contain roughly the same amounts of t3 and t4, but be aware that some are manufactured to have a longer shelf life.

These ones need an extra process for your stomach to absorb them.... I cannot manage to do the extra process so i went back to being hypothyroid on both Erfa and ThyroidS.... Am absoloultely fine with thiroyd and naturethroid.

Interesting! So that applies to Erfa as well?

Here is the article which covers Thyroid S. thyroid-s.com/natural-desic...

I remember seeing somewhere that Thyroid S was the closest to Erfa.... I have had problems with both of those, so i might just be making a leap with no proof.... I do know of other people who havent done well on Erfa or ThyroidS though.

Thanks very much for your replies. Am I right in thinking I swallow Thyroid-s whole? I've been taking Thiroyd sublingually. I am guessing by having to take it in this way, it means its effectiveness is diluted by the time it starts to act, as opposed to sublingual dosing. Is that right?

I just don't want to take too much (having ended up in hospital due to overdosing on T3 before) or not enough (having had a truly rotten time in extreme hypo for too long before finding ndt).

Thanks!
