Hi,

Me again.... I was taking 4 grains armour felt good but not great, instead of upping armour I added t3, too much t3. I also dropped to 2 grains of armour. I now feel like poo. These are my latest results. Please look at them and give me your opinion.

T4 7 (10-22)

T3 8.2 (3.1-6.8)

Tsh 0.2 (.3-5.5)

Serum alkiline phosphate ; slightly high

Serum calcium ; slightly high

Vit d ; slightly low

MCV slightly low

ESR 25

Serum cortisol 188 (200-700)

I don't have lymes.

My doctor thinks that my t4 is so low because I am//was taking too much t3. Does that sound right? He is re checking my cortisol level on friday morning. They dont check for RT3. I am taking iron, vitD, raw adrenal, magnesium, vitC, vit B.

Thank you so much for your help and advice, I really do appreciate it. 😊

So are those your blood test results on 2 grains? Or 4 grains? What were you taking when you had those bloods done - and how long had you been taking that dose?

Any B12 results? That low MCV might indicated ferritin or B12 deficiency.

2 grains. I changed from 4 grains of armour to 2 grains and T3 back in September/October . I have no b12 results but could ask for them on Friday wnen they re check my cortisol. Thank you

Kate5Kids, how much T3 are you taking in addition to 2 grains? What was vitD level and how much D3 are you supplementing?

T4 is often low when patients are taking T4+T3 or NDT but your doctor is right that you are taking too much T3 because FT3 is over range.

High calcium is usually due to hyperparathyroidism. Your GP should check your parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels.

Low MCV can indicate iron deficiency. Ask your GP to test ferritin.

I am taking waaaay to much t3 i halved that since blood test. I am taking 10ug of vitD3 and my Vit D result was 49 so only just out of range. Would too much t3 really make my t4 only 7? I can ask for ferritin on friday also. Thank you.

Kate, click on the Reply tab underneath the post you are replying to and the poster is notified you have responded.

VitD 75-100 is optimal. 10mcg vitD is an infant dose. I suggest 5,000iu D3 daily for 6-8 weeks and then reduce to 5,000iu alternate days. Retest in 4-6 months.

Too much T3 and not enough T4 is why T4 is low. It's to do with the proportions of T3 and T4 you are taking.

I'm sorry you're worried about hyperparathyroidism. It does need checking out.

Thanks. I will ask for more tests, i think its a HPT test i need?. I have run out of armour but will start again on another NDT, well hopefully my doctor will allow it.

Kate5Kids, you really must get another prescription so you don't run out of NDT as it may take time for your pharmacist to arrange a special order as not many stock it.

The test you need is parathyroid hormone (PTH).

Thank you for that. I am seeing the doctor on tuesday to discuss the results and to get another prescription. I cant afford armour but Thyoid is cheapest so hopefully that will be ok. I know I will feel rubbish till it gets back in my system, being anemic is not helping either! 😊 thank you for your help!

Kate5Kids, NatureThroid, WP or Erfa can be prescribed on a named patient basis and will be less expensive than Armour. Thai NDT, Thyroid-S and Thiroyd are cheapest but you won't get them on prescription. PM me if you'd like a source to buy without prescription.

Did you allow 24 hours after your last dose of thyroid meds and the blood test? Did you fast before it (we can drink water). Did you have the appointment as early as possible?

Kate5kids

Yes about 24 hours. I didnt fast and the bloods were taken at 11am. They are re testing cortisol levels at 9am on friday. I am really quite worried about parathyroid now! Thanks for your help
