I phoned for my results today. My doctor only tests FT4 and TSH and does not know that I have quit levo and started on Thiroyd. I now take 2.5 grains daily.
MY FT4 was 7.9
My TSH was 8.25
So, two questions - first, what to do now with Thiroyd? Raise the dose? By how much?
Second, the receptionist at the practice says I have been sent a letter to make an appointment to discuss the above results. I am worried about this and I really don't want my doc to know about using Thiroyd. What do I do?
As you know, I truly value the information you guys give so I look forward to receiving your wise advice!
Thanks, Michelle

TSH is too high so you are undermedicated. FT4 is often lower on NDT than Levothyroxine. You can increase dose in half grain increments every 2 weeks. I suggest you stick at 3.5 grains for six weeks and order a private thyroid test including FT3 before increasing further.
If your results are vastly different to those on 175mcg Levothyroxine your GP is probably concerned that you aren't taking meds regularly or have developed malabsorption preventing it working. If you feel better on NDT tell your GP. GP may even agree to continue monitoring you on NDT although s/he isn't obliged to do so.

Thank you Clutter! I think I got a shock when I saw my results too! When on Levo, I was used to FT4 being around 20 and TSH being around 0.
However, now that I've calmed down I am back in a positive frame of mind. I am on the right track with Thiroyd, and I now have a set of results as a baseline for the future!
When I got home, the letter from the doc was waiting for me. An appointment has been made for me for Jan 26th - so it's not as though they're too worried about me, LOL. I can't make that appointment anyway, because of work commitments.....so by the time I get to see someone, I'll probably be on 3.5 grains and the results of any new blood tests will seem better to my doctor!
So, on to 3 grains immediately, and 3.5 in two week!
