Helpful doctors in Oxford area?

Hi everyone, if you know me then you do, which is nice - if you don't, well hello! My appearance here is rather fitful.

Basically I've had enough of shots in the dark and I'm looking for some kind of alternative doctor/thing? who can help me get my thyroid on track, run the tests properly, etc.

I have no idea how to go about this, how much it costs, or who I can go to and there's not much detailed info on various websites I've found.

I'm looking for somebody in or around the Oxfordshire area, who will take my symptoms seriously, run tests and guide me through the correct dosages of T3 and T4. I don't want to take desicated thyroid, so it needs to be someone who will allow me to use synthetic...

This is all after months upon months of adjusting my diet, building up vitamins and minerals with supplements, trying to persuade GPs who think I'm normal, going round in circles and I have had enough! I am only getting worse and if I don't do something now it's just going to send me back into anorexia land with dieting and depression. So I think it's time to bring in the experts. If anyone can recommend somebody they've found helpful in the oxfordshire area I'd be extremely grateful. I could probably get to Wiltshire or Bristol too. Thanks so much, it means the world to me xx :)

You could contact Louise Warvill from Admin and ask her for the list of Thyroid Friendly Docs and Endos.

Thanks so much, I will do that! :)

Hello superparrot,

I am sorry to hear you are still feeling so unwell.

All the work and commitment to improving your diet and nutrient levels will have gone a hugely long way to improving your health but if thyroid hormones are low they will need replacing.

Hopefully a member can advise you on an Oxford ( of close by) doctor or endo.

Alternatively you can email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of sympathetic endos/doctors that members have had positive experiences with.

It is good you are taking responsibility for your own health.

Good luck & look after yourself

Flower.
