Throat

Hi I am on carbimazole and have been for the last 6 weeks. I keep getting a scratchy throat and my voice croaks. It's not sore at all . Is this normal.? Thanks x

I used to get that sort of thing, a bit like swollen glands and a rough throat. When I was taking carb. I never felt particularly I'll, no mouth ulcers or anything. First time it was coming up to Christmas so to be on the safe side I had a WBC blood test to check that it wasn't agranulositisis just be on the safe side.

Second time I spoke to the practise nurse who spoke to a doctor and the doctor (and I) decided to wait and see which we did and things were fine, after that I just ignored it and it went away.

Read the patient information leaflet, you should have got one with your carb. If you didn't google online and you will find it on there. It might be worth having a word with your doctor just to be on the safe side.

Think that's a good idea. Hopefully you can speak to him before Chrstmas then relax and enjoy things. It's no fun worrying about sore throats when you're on carb.
