Hello Clmartin,

I can’t tell from your previous posts if you have Hashimotos. If you do then taking Echinacea may be counter productive.

T-helper cells (lymphocytes) are a vital part of the immune system. They are known as TH-1 and TH-2 and to be healthy need to be kept balanced.

In Hashi suffers many are TH-1 dominant and Echinacea is known to stimulate a TH-1 response thereby making your Hashi symptoms worse.

I have Hashi and can not take Echinacea (or grape seed extract or milk thistle).

If you do not have Hashi then Echinacea is fine to take and will help strengthen the immune system.

I don’t know anything about Thyme but don’t forget the usual supplements recommended for good thyroid function will help strengthen the immune system too.

Thanks flower.

I'm not sure if I have hashimotos or not.

How would I find out and do I need to know?

Clmartin,

You do not need to know but it is useful if you have can't find an answer to ongoing issues... even those ones that appear to be un-thyroid related such as gut or joint pain.

High antibody counts needs to be addressed as can make one feel very unwell and encourage further auto immune disease.

Ask you GP to test you for TPOAb & TGAb thyroid anti bodies.
