There is an article by Dr Erika Schwartz in today's Daily Mail re bio-idential hormones, but only a very small paragraph about Thyroid hormones. This paragraph is in Case Study 1, but it does mention that Thyroxine was needed by all the cells in the body to work normally. Sorry, can't do links.

Thanks for sharing, Karen09. If only mainstream doctors shared the same approaches.

Think my Endo was talking about this at my last appointment. It appears they are made from Soy and Yams. So would hormones made from Soy be a good idea for Thyroid Patients, as I thought that Soy was goitrogenic.

No, it would not be a good idea! Not in my opinion, anyway. Soy is more than a goitrogen, it stops the absorption of hormone at a cellular level, too. I wouldn't take them.

So the first doctor says that for example depression can affect on TSH levels suppressing it so it might look like there is no problem even though t3 is low. But does he mean depression lowers t3 and leads to thyroid issues which then would be resolved treating depression. Or low t3 leads to depression which then shows only as low t3 and possibly low tsh instead high.

So which was first chicken or egg?

Yeah, I think he's just guessing. lol

From my personal experience, I can confirm that low T3 leads to depression.

I experienced when when I first started T3 and my Levo was reduced by too much.

It was resolved by increasing both T3 and T4 in my case.

Mark Starr says T4&T3 is better in the long run than NDT for patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (which is most of us).

The trouble is that most doctors could get struck off if they do not follow the 'guidelines' of the BTA and others.
