Arugala, you've replaced the thyroxine in Levothyroxine with thyroxine and T3 in NDT so you aren't having thyroxine withdrawal. Switching from 75mcg Levothyroxine to 120mg (2 tablets) NDT means you have doubled your dose and that may be why you feel nauseous. Skip your next dose and reduce dose to 60mcg (1 tablet) for a week or two before increasing to 90mcg (1.5 tablets).

i guess i can be wreckless and impatient, and now im paying for it, i was feeling good and figured since i had been taking NDT for a couple of weeks, i could increase my dose, but it was a stupid decision, these meds are sensitive and im sorry now that i increased like i did.

it makes sense to me that i took too much and i keep forgetting when i take the NDT im taking t4 as well. the symptoms im having right now are the same ones i used to get when i would take my levo during the day which is why i had to take it at night. so, im so glad you responded, because i almost thought to take a peice of levo to see if if would make me feel better, and now see that i would get way more sick if i did that. im starting to feel a little better, ill just ride out the storm and like you suggested, skip the next dose and only take one dose tomorrow, is that what i should do? thank you in advance

you're very kind

clutter,

what are you thoughts on NDT and also adding straight t3? ive read about others who take their NDT and also take some t3 to increase their t3 levels.

Arugala, the proportions of T4 and T3 in NDT don't suit everyone and they may add T4 or T3 to tweak the dose to perfection.

2 weeks on NDT is not long enough for you to tell how well you are responding to it. You probably will need more than 60mg but have increased too quickly and this may be why you're feeling nauseous. Wait until you are stable on 90mg or 120mg for six weeks and have a thyroid blood test including FT3 before thinking about adding in more T3.

i dont plan on adding t3 any time soon, i was just learning as much as i can. i am going to stay on the one tablet (60mg) for a few weeks, and if i increase, it will be in 30mg incriments. i just wondered if increasing NDT (which also increases t4), if some people when they have evened out, also add t3 for more energy.

Arugula, if FT3 remains low they might add T3. Some find the T3 in NDT too much and will add T4.

i dont know any doctor especially mine - who dislikes me for who knows what reason, (she's very judgemental towards me, which goes against the first rule in the hippocratic oath doctors take) who will even perform a t3 test let alone a t4, i just had a tsh and i had to almost beg for it, even though i have hypothyroidism, she scoffed and said "you just had one last year" and im pretty sure with hypo you are supposed to have your levels tested every 6 months, ive been meaning to get a new pri care, but i had to have surgery and didnt want to cause waves until then, i had my surgery and it went well, so, i guess i can try to find a doctor who gives a rats ass, ill roll the dice and hope for a good one this time. maybe ill order my own test, thank you for your advice

It is likely you've increased too fast - though it could also be something completely unrelated. Not everything is thyroid-related but I'm definitely guilty of forgetting that.

Wouldn't hurt to drop back to one and a half, rather than straight back to one, if you've been on one grain for a fortnight. (Your tablets are definitely one grain tablets, aren't they?).

Re forgetting to take them, NDT doesn't have to be taken in divided doses - I take mine all at once first thing in the morning. Might work out better for you once you're ready to increase your dose. :)

you're correct, and i am only on and a half NDT as of today, = to 90mg. i know not everything is related to my thryroid, but the nausea is, and always was a side effect when i took my levo during the day, which is why i took it at night, i DID take too much NDT, i thought i could take two tabs which equals 120 mg a day, and i was wrong, i got very nauseous as soon as it hit me and then a few hours later if went away, i actually bought a thyroid journal and thank god i did, i have a BAD memory, so i am able to refer to that. i guess i want it all at once, i want to feel great and energetic and that is just childish, im very impatient and i paid a price for that, but learned a lesson along with it. its a very sensitive medication even though its natural, its not any less strong as a chemical. i am greatful for all and any info., advice, even criticism as i know its all for my own good. this website is the first thing i look at in the morning and the last one i refer to at night. i love you guys and couldnt get through this without all your help and information. i always heed the warnings and always think about the words said to me by all who respond. no one else gets it, my mom will say "you always look full of energy to me" thats after three hours of being awake and two cups of coffee and the need to work and pay my bills, she doesnt get it and its ok. im going to stay on the tab and a half for at least two weeks, have some patience and take my notes. thank you for responding, it means more than you know.

yes, one grain 60mg. im one week off the levo and feeling great, i take 3/4 tablet in the early morning (although i think i can get away with just a half) and 1/4 late day (5pm) and im feeling awesome. i feel like a new person, the energy or just waking up and not wanting to crawl right back in bed in the morning is an amazing feeling.
