T3 SUPPLEMENTS

Hi,

I need some advice. I went to see Dr Peatfield a year ago. He diagnosed adrenal exhaustion and recommended supplements from Nutri. I also had private tests which were sent to him. My Thyroid is within range but at bottom end. So I take a Nutri Thyroid supplement daily. My T3 was right at the bottom of range so clearly not working efficiently. Dr Peatfield advised that weight would drop but it hasn't it has increased. I feel so much better on supplements I am taking but still don't think my T3 is working as I have weight gain which just doesn't tally with what I eat. Please Please do not think that I am looking for excuses as I really am not. I am thinking of trying Nutri T3 convert with hope that this will encourage my T3 to work. Has anyone tried these or have any other ideas? Wanted to try this before going back to see DR P. Or maybe I will get a test done for T3 privately as I do feel that it's all I need to get sorted.

Really hope you can advise me

Welcome to the forum, Monkeypants.

It would be a good idea to have thyroid levels tested before making any changes. You can order private TSH, FT4, FT3 and thyroid antibody tests from Blue Horizon and Genova via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... Post the results and ranges (figures in brackets after results) in a new question for intepretation and advice.

Monkeypants, it's not that your T3 'doesn't work', it's just that there isn't enough of it. What you want to know is why there isn't enough. Is it because you Don't have enough T4 to convert, or are you just not converting.

If you Don't have enough T4 to convert, then there's no point in wasting your money on a supplement to help conversion. That is why you need to get a blood test : TSH, FT4 and FT3 - to see exactly where you are. :)

Hello Monkeypants,

Welcome to our forum and sorry to hear you are having troubles.

As you are not medicating you can't increase your dose so a supplement to aid conversion would be a good idea.

However, as advised above you need to know what is going on and also know a baseline so testing is advisable.

Good luck,

As you have been seeing Dr. P. might it be a good idea to report this to him and follow his advice? He is a wonderful doctor and wants you to get well. I saw him many years ago and he was really helpful and started me on the road to recovery.
