Night: Is it ok for me to take my thyroxin at... - Thyroid UK
Night
Yea you can on an empty stomach I used to but I'm always hungry so I swapped back to morning 😁
Hi, I take mine At night, as near to falling asleep as possible and always 2 hours after last eating, this is the advice I've had off others x
Sorry about the hair loss
Is it much? X
Yes its so distressing will it grow back ...
I'm sure it will, I think I've read a few people say about temporary hair loss xx
if i take mine during the day i get ill, nauseaus with a heavy feeling in my head.
i started taking levo at night (around 6pm) and the next day felt the positive effects. yes, empty stomach also
Many of us take our levothyroxine at bed-time. Some find it better to do so. Try it and see whether it is better for you.
Like others, I have found taking Levo at night just before bed (about 11pm) works better for me

I have also been experimenting with taking liquid Vit C about 10mins before I take Levo, .........it might be coincidence but that seems to help too
as far as the hair loss, i have the same problem, i use the l'oreal advanced hair care line, it's the only conditioner that makes my hair soft, i also take 5000icu biotin and 10,000iu's vit D with every morning, the biotin and good conditioner make a difference for me.
I suffer with extreme hair loss which has been put down to untreated hypothyroidism. My GP refused so I was taking 2.5 grains of NDT which I felt ok on. When I finally got to see an endocrinologist she was surprised by what I was taking she worried that they were too strong but then bloods taken that day showed a TSH of 9.7, T4 of 6 and T3 of 7, all off the range scales by a mile. I have been diagnosed with alopecia areata (which they believe to be stress induced as my poor brother spent most of the summer in hospital) and also with Telogen Effluvia which is the all over thinning. My scalp is visible and by hairline has receded back by an inch. It is really scary, but I'm promised it will grow back. My GP tested B12, folate and ferritin and said all was in order, but I asked for a printout and saw ferritin was only 0.1 in range. I waited to see a better GP, told him I was taking spartone water and he looked at the bloods and asked why hadn't they tested my actual iron level as well as the ferritin stores. That blood test came back on Monday and I am severely anaemic and now on the dreadful Ferrous Fumarate tablets, as well as a combination of T3 and T4. The hair loss isn't letting up yet but in assured it will (not necessarily the alopecia patch but the thinning. So as well as ferritin ask to have your serum iron tested too! Good luck, I know the hair loss is scary, I bought a great real hair wig and am shaving all of my hair off for cancer research, and have so far raised about £1000. I figured if I got my hair before it got me, and could raise money for charity in the process, I may as well go bald and start from scratch with regrowth
