Going to see my GP this Thursday for results of Levothyroixine.i have been on 75mg for a month and I am feeling not well at all. My surgery was on June 10, 2015 for Papillary Carsonoma.3/4 of the thyroid was removed because of my age. I am 75. I am still so tired and sick to my stomach from the minute I wake up till I go to bed at night. I feel faint every time I stand up and lose my balance quite often. Now I have started with a ear ache and sore throat. My stomach is hurting all the time. I am gaining weight every day. Has anyone ever had a constant ear ache as a result of thyroid problems?

Friskypaw, you probably need a dose increase.

Low thyroid causes low stomach acid and this can cause nausea, gas, bloating and reflux as food hangs around and ferments instead of being digested normally. Please avoid PPIs like Omeprazole if you are offered them. They further reduce stomach acid and make the problem worse. Betaine Pepsin before meals, or raw apple cider vinegar in fruit juice or honey sweetened water before meals, raise stomach acid and improve digestion.

Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate. All are depleted in hypothyroid patients and cause fatigue. Feeling faint, dizzy and losing balance is typical in B12 deficiency.

Low thyroid can cause tinnitus and even some hearing loss but I think earache is unlikely to be thyroid related and is more likely to be due to an ear/throat infection as your throat is sore.

RFU, T3 is only given to thyCa patients awaiting RAI. After RAI they're switched to Levothyroxine.

Thats what they gave me, T3 only for a while (I had Papilloma Cancer and a thyroidectomy) - and I felt perfectly normal. After a while my doctor said, "You will soon feel fine we will change your medication to the good stuff". I didn't really understand what she meant since I felt perfectly OK. She put me on Levo and I was never sicker in my life for 2.5 years until I did my own research, fired that Endo and got one who prescribed me Armour. Now I am normal again.
