Just wanted to let others know on here that I have been taking Triyotex for 6 months now and feel great.
I feel exactly the same as when I took cytomel.

Lesleywragg, nice to hear you're feeling good. Is the Triyotex 25mcg or 75mcg and is it slow release?
I've got no idea about this slow release tablet that people talk about but I take one 75 mcg each day. It doesn't say anything about slow release on the packaging but I do feel warm in the mornings which I never had with cytomel 25 mcg 3 times a day. I do feel normal though and I also take 100 mcg of Levo too.

Hi, what is Triyotex and cytomel? does this help with thyroid aswel? Never heard of these, I've been on levothyroxine for the last 13 years.
Triyotex is basically T3, levothyroxine is T4 which has to be converted by your body into T3 for it to have any use.
Unfortunately for me my body does not convert the T4 so I was poorly for over 10 years.
I asked time and time again for T3 but was refused by the GP and the NHS endocrinologists.

I have made a post explaining where i am today under kjc1tisdell, i wondered if you would care to read this for me, I have some triyotex which <site deleted> sent me instead of cytomel, I have been given T3 by doctors on percription it makes me feel so ill i feel like im being poisoned, i feel i have no alternative but to go back on T4 with adrenal support.
2) When is was on 75mg of T3 i had low blood pressure.
Do you have a thyroid as you seem to be on alot.
a private endo said i should be on 75t3 and 50 t4 but im going through menopause and everything seems messed up.
on my own given up dont know what to take any more. i have fibro, cf and cant walk at moment.
Any chance you could pm where you got it. i was taking it about 5/6 years ago my Doctor withdrew it without any explanation and haven't felt well since but she refused me even a test to see if that was the problem, saying it most probably was but the cost was prohibitive and the last time she said it wouldn't make any difference as the NHS would no longer supply it. This has been going on for such a long time now I feel totally helpless

You weren't prescribed Triyotex on the NHS. Triyotex is 75mcg. UK T3 is 20mcg. You should write your own post, including TSH, FT4 and FT3 results and ask members to PM you where you can source T3.
Cytomel and Triyotex are straight T3 where as levothyoxine is T4 which if you're lucky enough converts to T3 in your body, if it doesn't thats when you have a problem.

it ABSOLUTELY helps with hypothyroid symptoms, which are usually, feeling extremely tired after a good night sleep, or having debillitating depression -just total exhaustion every single day, and these symptoms are why a lot of us will go online, buy presciptions without a presciption from countries halfway across the world whle crossing our fingers, all this because our dr's REFUSE to prescribe t3, why would they do that? my guess is because of politics/money and because they're highly abused for weight loss which is secondary to how amazing it feels when that t3 that we risked buying, makes us feel NORMAL, i cant explain it any other way. so, hell yeah, ill scroll the internet until my eyes hurt because i want to wake up feeling awake.

there are two types of t3, NDT natural desiccated thyroid which has both t3 and t4 (naturethroid, armour, thiroyd) the second is liothyronine which is straight t3 (cytomel, cynomel, triyotex, tiromel, thyron henning, etc....) and we all have our favorites or ones that work better than the rest, but you'll find all this out if you do some research. which you should.
but, hormones are very sensitive medications, so, you need to be careful, am i right hypos and hypers out there?

A silly question but is THS, T3? Because my THS is 29 which is high
No TSH is not T3, TSH and T4 are what you are tested on when you have your thyroid blood test, what they should be testing for are you're T3 levels as that is more accurate.
Question if the tsh is high, showing hypothyroidism, but the t3 and t4 are normal is there something significant about this?
Hi Punky, The TSH stands for thyroid stimulating hormone. This hormone is produced by the pituitary gland in response to a call from another gland. You are right about the significance of normal FT3 and FT4 in light of a very high TSH as they are usually very low and that's why the pituitary keeps revving up. Your thyroid should then create more T4 which in turn converts to free t3 or reverse t3. That's how you balance things so you are neither hypo nor hyper.
Once in a while the pituitary is the problem.

Punkyb, normal means within range. I suspect with TSH 11 your FT4 and FT3 will have been at the bottom of their respective ranges. They will have dropped below range (abnormal) without thyroid replacement.
As Clutter mentions, it would be interesting to see your test results with the ranges included. Let's say your free T4 is 11 and the range goes from 10 to 18. This could probably trigger a higher TSH. But there are other circumstances that this functional medicine practitioner points out.

So your TSH went from 11.68 to 1.29
which is very improved.
Now why wouldn't your FT4 also go up while taking T4??? It is only .93 and the high is 1.48? You want the T4 to be at least 1.25.
I can't make much out of your T3 and if it is total T3, not very informative. You want the free T3 which is important and it is what your FT4 will make but since your FT4 is not that high, you may not have a very good FT3 result either.
It would be understandable if you still have symptoms even though your TSH is perfect.
My t4 went up to 1.12 in 2013 with a range of .8 - 1.5 that was the last check we did on t 4
in 2010 the t 3 was 135 of a range 58-159ng/dl
I don't know why the GP has not retested the t3 and t4 but I can ask him to give me a test for them and see how they are coming along. Thanks for the input.
punky, I'm curious about the range for TSH. It's been a battle to tell GPs that anything close to 2 or above is NOT good (at least for those taking hormone) but most labs use a range of 1.0 to 5 and wait for it to rise past that to treat. So your range is fantastic so which lab or country are you in? In fact all of the ranges seem unusual compared to the hundreds I have seen here unless they are TOTAL numbers rather than FREE numbers.

I am in California, USA- I think my doctor understands thyroid. I would not have even known I had hypothyroid had I not gone to him for GP care. He found the problem without my complaint.

I hope he does understand and that is a good sign that he did test your thyroid. I am also in the U.S., New York, and my GP knows the basics only. My Endo was even worse. Keep checking back here as I do not have the faith you do about the treatment you will receive. Some people do handle the simple treatment of thyroid hormone. either synthetic or natural and respond well. So if you do, that will be excellent. If you don't, ask for more information. Many others here know more about thyroid than doctors.

I'm on 75mcg of T3 , spread over 4 doses.
It would be wonderful to be able to take it just once a day, but I find I get palpitations and seized-upness sometimes if I take a dose too soon, or it is too much for the conditions that day e.g: hot weather, a lot of physical work or stress.
How did you make the transition, and what time of day do you take the 75mcg?
As I understand it the capsules are not slow release, but there must be some way that the body saves T3 till it's needed, or else you would feel overdosed?
I tried putting my dose up to 100mcg over several weeks in the spring to see if it would help with worsening joint and muscle pain, as per Dr Lowe's advice, but it made me
feel very out of sorts and unable to sleep deeply.
Hi, I take one 75 mcg tablet in the morning as well as 100mcg of levothyroxine and originally I was taking cytomel 25mcg morning, noon and night.
I still have some cytomel left but I just went straight onto the 75mcg of triyotex, just one in the morning.
I always check my pulse and blood pressure every time I mess with my dosage and it was absolutely fine but I do feel warm in the morning.
I do sometimes get tired late afternoon butI think thats quite normal.
im having the same issues tried every thing I don't convert either so have an appointment again on the 24th to try for t3 only, I was doing well on thyroid gold but its not so great now
Good Luck with the appointment, I have no thyroid and suffered for years before they finally realised I had a goiter on my neck caused by hashimotos.
I have been to several GP's and 3 Endocrinologists and was told point blankly that levothyroxine was the best thing for me.
I eventually joined this sight and helped myself.

I know, I though I could cut tabs, but realised they were capsules when they arrived. They are now stuck in a cupboard. There was no indication on the site that they supply 25mg.

Health2015, They don't supply anything other than 75mcg as far as I know. You could open the capsule and count the beads. One third of the beads will be equivalent to 25mcg.
Do they all come in capsules, or is it just some of them?
Dolphin, Triyotex 75mcg is the only T3 in capsule form I'm aware of. I think the gelatin beads are slow-release although it doesn't appear to state anything about slow-release on the packaging.
Other T3 brands are usually 25mcg tablets regular release.

yes its a prescription only drug but I don't need a prescription to obtain them

Yes, the tablets Im getting at the moment have a date on for April 2017 and I receive three boxes with 30 in each box.
So is that an 8 month shelf life, or are you halfway through what you received? Sorry to keep pestering for details -

No they are good to take until that date, but to be honest the ones I have in at the moment with that date will all be gone within a year by August 2016.

I have to agree with you. Is yours a red capsule with the teeny beads inside? It is a timed released product. It is only sold in 75 mcg. capsules.
Vindaloo, you could empty the capsule and count the beads, one third will be equivalent to 25mcg.
Triyotex is regular release according to everything I have seen.
I have never been able to find any valid (eg, from the manufacturer) to validate the rumor that it is time release and the label says it is Liotironina 75 mcg. ("Each capsule contains liothyronine equivalent to 75 mcg of Liotironine") I have only read rumors from invalid resources.
I take 1 Triyotex plus Tiromel to reach my many year total of 125, as my single dose bedtime T3. If anyone can quote me a resource that is valid (e.g. not an internet post or "understanding") please let me know.

Sorry I have only just received your message, I stopped taken triyotex because I was feeling hot and I started taking T3 from Greece.
I've recently ran out of the Greek ones so I started to take my left over triyotex and I've been fine.
I'm beginning to think I might be pre-menopausal !!!
