Hi everyone. I've been through alsorts of fertility treatment (which all failed) for 5 years until my consultant noticed my thyroid and said I need my tsh under 2.5! At this time it was 8. I upped my thyroxine and it went down I believe I conceived at this time (yeeeeeeeey) I took a test (actually 6) yesterday and omg they were positive. I'm going to the docs today to confirm it. I am only about 4 weeks pregnant but I'm scared now because my thyroid is all over the place the past 3 months and we can't seem to control it. I had my first endo appt last week (which I posted about) and it didn't go well. I have hashi. Do I need to get another quick appt with him? Does the optimal ranges still apply during pregnancy or do they change? Should my levo be increased ? Are there any other vits I should be taking?

Hi there, congratulations on your pregnancy! I am 8 weeks pregnant and recently posted on here about correct levels in pregnancy. Some lovely people on here sent me these links which I found massively useful.

cks.nice.org.uk/hypothyroid...

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... (the Lothian Guidelines on here was most useful to me).

I'm no expert at all but hope these documents will point you in the right direction.

Thank you. Got an app for the docs later today just to confirm it but just trying to find out what I need to do now as I'm a bit scared lol

You will need a thyroid blood test and they will probably want to monitor you carefully. They may need to increase your dose a bit more. It is quite common to need slightly more thyroxine when pregnant.

I have had two successful pregnancies and now have two wonderful children who are both very healthy. There is every chance that you will have a healthy pregnancy with the right monitoring and treatment. Just remember to look after yourself. You and your baby are the most important people in your life right now.

Congratulations to you and wishing you all the very best for a healthy pregnancy :)

Thanks Carolyn. I did have a thyroid test last week but that was before I knew. Tsh 2.58 ft4 18.1 I will get in touch with my endo today to make sure he will monitor me every couple of weeks or so and hopefully everything will be fine xx

Congratulations, Muffin.

NICE recommend the TSH of women planning to conceive and newly pregnant should be in the low-normal range 0.4-2.0 with FT4 near or in the top 75% of range. It's usual to increase Levothyroxine by 25mcg-50mcg when pregnancy is confirmed unless TSH is lower. amn_Shetland has posted the link.

Yes I checked it out. I only worry as my tsh fluctuates quite a bit. I did get a tsh 2.58 ft4 18.1 last week before I knew but I will be taking 100/125 alternates as requested

By my endo from today and will also get in touch with him to make sure he will monitor me

I trust everything goes smoothly for you. Re your fluctuating TSH. Do you have the earliest appointment for your blood test and fast? Do you leave approx 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test?
