Hi, I've been stuck in hospital with my daughter since Friday and unable to leave her side. I'm pleased to say we are being discharged today and I can't wait to have a shower and sleep! (She had kidney stones, bless her).
However, what I'm worried about now is that I haven't taken my medication (75mg Levo) since Friday. I've been on 100mg for 5 weeks after diagnosis and then docs said to reduce to 75mg last week. My throat is sore & voice hoarse and I feel as though I have swelling in my neck , which started when doc reduced earlier last week.
Could anyone advise if I should take 75mg when I get home, which may not be until this evening or leave that and start again in the morning? The neck issue is new, so not sure if I should make docs aware of this too?

Do you have the results that gave your GP the impression you needed a reduction in your dose ? Did they test TSH - FT4 and FT3 ? If not then I do not know how they knew you needed your dose reducing....
As you have re-started with symptoms - it does sound as if it was not the correct thing to do. You could take your dose before bed as long as you have not eaten for two hours. T4 is a storage hormone and stays in the system for some time so you could continue tomorrow in your usual way....
Your Doc obviously reduced your dose as he thought you were over medicated due to your High FT4. Without the FT3 test this is difficult to prove - so he/she is just guessing. With Hashimotos it is quite common for people to have a problem converting the storage hormone T4 into the Active hormone T3.
I would follow Clutters advice in your previous post/thread.
Denise, you can take 3 x 75mcg tonight and 1 x 75mcg tomorrow to catch up your mixed doses or 2 x 75mcg today and tomorrow. Patients suspected of non-compliance have taken 7 days dose at one time in the doctor's surgery to prove compliance.
Denise, Pointing out that it's okay to take 7 doses in one. Patients who doctors suspect don't take their Levothyroxine regularly have been asked to take 7 doses in front of the doctor to ensure it is taken.
Can I ask - did you not take it because you couldn't leave to go home? If this happens again (hopefully not) - you should ask the hospital to prescribe you your medication. I'm pretty sure they would give you it.
Yes, I took my daughter to GP Friday and she was admitted to hospital straight away. I had nothing with me, tablets, clothes, toothbrush! I asked a nurse but they said it wasn't possible.
I've learned from this to carry spare tablets with me at all times from now on.
Just feel awful today, but resting & hope to be back on track soon.
The PIL with my 50mcg levo , under the heading "If you take more than you should" includes:
"If you . . . swallow a lot of the tablets at the same time . . . contact your nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor immediately" and provides information about symptoms of an overdose." (No indication of what constitutes "a lot".)
Under the heading of "If you forget to take the tablets", the PIL says:
"Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the right time."
